In December of 2015 I participated in devember, which was a challenge to code for at least an hour a day each day of December, make the code publicly available, and create a daily web log of everything done.

This is the result of that month of coding; a simple proof of concept clone of Dr. Mario I call Rx, because I'm JUST that inventive. The prototype is fully playable and some interest was expressed, so this seemed like a good way to let people take a gander at it.

I don't plan to flesh this out into a full fledged game as I don't fancy getting sued by Nintendo or what have you, but hopefully someone out there can learn something from the code. Feel free to hit me up on twitter @OdatNurd with questions/comments/etc.

Do note that the current preloader doesn't visualize how much data is left to load, only a file count. Although there are only 3 songs and a couple of tiny sound effects that need to be preloaded before things kick off, depending on your connection speed this may or may not take a while and the whole experience may or may not be worth it.

Source code is available at: and the development log that I maintained while writing the code is available at:

The download below is a zip file that contains everything that itch is hosting here, allowing you to just double click the index.html file (make sure you extract it first) to play, or examine the Javascript easier, or what have you.

NOTE: The screen shot code (F5) tries to open a new tab/window with the current frame; this may or may not be compatible with how itch hosts the game in an iframe, not to mention how you may have your browser popups locked down.
